Red House

Hi! My name is Matthew Robinson, and I am the Red House School Counselor at DeMasi Middle School. This is my 17th year as a school counselor, including one year at the high school level, five years at the elementary level, and now heading into my 11th year as a middle school counselor. I have had the opportunity to live in Eugene, Oregon, and Tokyo, Japan, and those experiences have helped shape the way I connect with and support students. Outside of school, I am a dad of three—a daughter and twin boys—which has given me an even greater appreciation for the joys, challenges, and adventures that come with growing up.

My goal is to be the person for students that I wish I had when I was their age. Middle school can be an exciting time, but it can also come with a lot of changes, challenges, questions, and emotions. Whether you are a student or a parent, I am here to help navigate the complexities of grades 6–8. There is no judgment here, and there is never a need to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable talking about something that is on your mind. My door is always open, and I am here to listen, support, problem-solve, and help students feel confident that they don't have to figure everything out on their own.

I also believe that supporting students is a team effort. I may not always get it right the first time, but I will always be willing to listen, learn, and keep working alongside you and our staff to find a path forward and move toward a positive outcome for your student. We are all on the same team, and I am committed to doing everything I can to help your child feel supported, understood, and successful during their middle school years.
